Keanu

For Keanu, the first feature film from comedy duo Key & Peele, the social campaign had one mission: take the internet’s obsession with cats and turn it into a cultural moment. We created a series of hilarious, highly shareable posters that reimagined Keanu, the film’s feline star, as icons from classic movies and TV shows. A cat-themed remix of the official trailer pushed the fun even further, helping Keanu trend on Facebook, Twitter (now X), and land on Reddit’s front page multiple times.

In addition, a live action reimagining of the trailer starring real cats, dressed in character gear and surrounded by production design pulled straight from the film, was released to drive home the absurdity and charm of the movie.

To expand the campaign offline, pop-up cat cafés opened in key cities where fans could adopt kittens dressed like gangsters, score movie swag, and even meet Key, Peele, and co-star Method Man.

We also built an interactive photo tool that let users transform their own pets into gangsta cats to share across social. The tool generated over a million uses on launch day and remains a favorite among animal lovers online.
